Migraine

Yesterday I had a terrible migraine.

I didn't have it for a long time ago.

I was almost all the day in bed. And, at night I felt nauseous and with some pain, yet.

But the worst was the aura*.

Besides having 2 times visual aura, I have sensory symptoms too, and was terrible. It seemed that I had some claws pressing my arm and my face...

*Migraine with aura
This is the second most commonly seen form of migraine.
Aura consisting of at least one of the following:
- Fully reversible visual symptoms (e.g. flickering lights, spots, lines, loss of vision)
- Fully reversible sensory symptoms (e.g. pins and needles, numbness)
- Fully reversible dysphasia;

I always had migraine with visual aura symptoms. But, the sensory symptoms are terrible. 1st time I had it, I thought that I was having a heart attack, because it only appears on one side of our body.

Today and lately...

I have been annoying...

Any thing upsets me...

I say things that I shoudln't...

I hurt the others...

I think is the weather... The cloudy days make me feel upset.

And... in my job things are not in the best way.

This will get better... I am optimist!! :))

Sintra - A paradise in Earth

Sintra is a very beautiful village near Lisbon.
I can talk about it, but you need to go there and feel it to understand how magic it is. It will surprise you.
Sintra is known since the Classic Antiquity as the Moon Hill due to its strong tradition of stars cult, still visible in a lot of monuments and archaeological objects.
Sintra has a lot of fabulous monuments from a various eras, ranging from the Pre-History to our days.
Sintra was considered a World Heritage.

The National Palace

It is one of the most important Portuguese exemplary of Royal Architecture. It was classified as National Monument.
It has the huge Moorish tiles collection of Portugal.
It can also be found, as an Ex-libris of Sintra, two chimneys built above the kitchen.
Among other things I would like to stress a room in this same palace, where a lot of coats of arms are shown.

Pena's Palace


When you go up to Serra de Sintra, on the top it can be seen the picturesque and also fantastic Palace of Pena.
It is dated from 1839 when King Fernando II bought the ruins of the Monastery of Nossa Senhora da Pena. He transformed it in a small palace where he and his family would go on vacations.
This palace is the most accomplished and remarkable example of Portuguese Romantic Architecture.
Did you know that Walt Disney was inspired in one tower of this Palace to create the Cinderella’s Castle?



Regaleira - Palace and Gardens

With no doubt my choice. I love this place! :)
This is a fabulous assemblage of styles and constructions - gardens, towers, statues, mysterious grottoes, etc. Quinta da Regaleira has alchemical and sacred connotations. Regaleira is a place to feel.
You must see it, know the mysteries around this place, see its gardens and the Million's Palace. The latter is a real philosophical mansion of alchemic inspiration.
Just going there, it’s possible to understand all the histories behind that place.




Moorish Castle

Winding over two ridges of Serra de Sintra, the Moorish Castle is dated from the 8th Century.
From there, we can have a beautiful view of the entire village and neighbourhood. That's why it was a place for watching the enemies during the wars.



Capuchos' Monastery

It was built in 1560 by Dom Alvaro de Castro.
It is located in a lonely place.
It became famous because of its poor construction. The monks that lived in there have very poor living conditions.

April Fools' Day

Hello everybody!

Today is 1st April or April Fools' Day (as is known in the english countries).

Do you know the history of this day?

One of the histories says that it appears in France. Since the beginning of the XVI century, the New Year was celebrated on March 25th till 1st April. In 1564, after the adoption of the gregorian calendar, the king Charles IX of France determined that the New Year will be celebrated in 1st January. Some french people resisted and continue following the old calendar. The others joked with them. These jokes became well-known as plaisanteries.

Nowadays, 1st April is a special day to joke with the others and to laugh a little with the tricks we make. This day is when you play a practical joke on your friends.

My Gil

My little Gil is feverish.

He is always sleeping and eats little.

Yesterday I went to the veterinary. Diagnosis: He has an infection. :(( Needs to take antibiotic.

I hope he gets better quickly.

Holy Week

We are in the Holy Week.

This is the last week before Easter. Begins in the Palm Sunday – day in what Church celebrates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem – and ends in the Easter Sunday. Easter Sunday is the first day of The Fifty Days until Pentecost’s.
Holy Week commemorates the last week of the earthly life of Jesus.

Holy Thursday

Is celebrated the Last Supper of Jesus and his Apostles. Is also celebrated the ritual of Jesus washing the feet to his Apostles.

Good Friday

Is celebrated the Jesus crucifixion.
The main altar in the Churches remains completely bare, without towel, candles, etc.

Holy Saturday

In the beginning of the Easter Vigil, all lights of the church are put out and is prepared a fire outside the Church.
The Paschal Candle is lighted from the new fire.
All the people enter in Church in procession while priest is saying “Christ our light” and all the people answer “Thanks to be God”.

When arrives at the altar, all the lights are put on.
In the old times, was in the Holy Saturday that the children or other candidates for baptism (catechumens) is presented for be baptized.

This is a very important week for the Christians.
We need to have courage and live this week in a different way. Paying attention to the really important things. And… praying more.
It is not necessary to do big changes in our life. Just look to the little things. Those things that we usually don’t pay attention. Little things makes the difference.

Everyone dream and everyone have dreams. If we don't have dreams we don't have objectives in life.

Those who dream by night, when wake up at the morning, sometimes don't remember what were the dreams about.

But, those who HAVE dreams, do anything to reach it.

I think we must work hard to reach our dreams. But, we have to be careful for do not becoming dangerous people and to hurt the others.

Remember... Your freedom finishes when the others starts.

Oh, I am so glad for being Friday!!!

This week was very hard. I am really tired.

An old story

An old story tells that 3 stonemasons who were working in the same construction and doing the same thing had been questioned about what they are doing.
The first one answered: “I am working for living”. The second one said: “I am doing the best work of our country”. Finally, the third one looks with brilliance in his eyes and said: “I am building a cathedral”.

Will we be able to answer to this question in the same way of the third stonemason?
